Welcome to Dr. Chen's Group at St. John's University
Dr. Chen leads the Nanomaterials group that studied the novel polymer nanostructures (including nanotubes, nanorods, nanograss, nanoparticles) and explored their applications in Bionanotechnology and Nanomedicine.
Furthermore, Dr. Chen has developed some unique methods to fabricate and pattern colloidal photonic crystals with different brilliant visible colors from highly monodisperse chemically reactive sub-micrometer polymer particles. Such unqiue photonic crystals will be very useful in optical and sensing technologies, and in biochemical analysis.
Moreover, Dr. Chen is also interested in the formation of complex protein patterns in rosette, scallop, Chinese arrow and dendrite shapes via salt-induced self-assembly.
